The HemiSERE is a modernized version of the classic OSS Lapel Knife that was issued to clandestine operatives in WW2. With enhanced ergonomics and ultra-light titanium construction, the HemiSERE is a capable and concealable backup blade.

  • Made in Japan

As a knife nerd who also loves spy gadgets, I have always admired the concept of the OSS Lapel Knife. After all, what's not to like about a super concealable knife designed specifically for gashing Gestapo agents?

However, the original Lapel Knives were not ideal. They lacked a secure grip, they were made of fairly thick steel, and they required a custom leather sheath to be sewn into the collar.

I designed the HemiSERE to create a more practical and effective Lapel Knife for the modern user in harm's way.

The first issue was ergonomics: How to create a tiny knife that's still secure in the hand so you don't cut the shit out of yourself using the thing. This was solved through the hemispherical cutout in the grip, which locks the knife into the hand and prevents your finger from sliding onto the edge. Another benefit of this grip is that it causes the edge to project forward like a claw.

The next issue was materials. Steel is heavy and magnetic, and ceramic is too delicate for a knife this small. That left Titanium, which is strong, light, and non-magnetic.

However, normal Titanium is too soft for use in knives. Because I wanted the HemiSERE to be able to perform as both a mini survival knife and as an escape tool, poor edge retention was not an option.

Luckily, I found a company in Japan that has developed a special Titanium/Ceramic composite that offers most of the edge retention of a ceramic blade, while keeping the strength of titanium.

Due to the titanium construction, the HemiSERE only weighs 4 grams. Not only does this reduce the metallic signature, but it also allows the knife to be carried in an unconventional manner.

Rather then rely on a sheath, which would add bulk and reduce carry options, the HemiSERE uses "glue dots" that attach the knife directly to the lapel.

The glue dots hold the HemiSERE very securely, but a quick tug of the handle will free the knife from the collar.

While it's called a Lapel Knife, you can actually stick the HemiSERE pretty much anywhere.

Because the HemiSERE is only 1.3mm thick, it can also be stuck to the back of credit card and carried in a wallet.

The HemiSERE is also thin enough that it can be hidden inside of a smartphone case.

And it also fits perfectly within an Altoids tin survival kit.

The question is: How well does such a tiny knife actually perform?

The Wharncliffe blade profile of the HemiSERE maximizes cutting performance. Due to the straight edge, it exerts tremendous pressure at the tip of the blade, ensuring a deep cut every time.

Overall, the HemiSERE proves the adage that "Good things come in small packages."

It can be concealed in a variety of ways, and provides serious cutting performance in an emergency.

Each HemiSERE comes with a blank credit card for wallet carry, along with 12 glue dots:

Cute holiday fake dating book
Format: Paperback
This is a quick and easy fake-dating holiday sapphic romance. It did feel a bit rushed, but the characters in the book are all likeable. Ellie and Murphy are our main characters. You also get to see that struggle of when you are an adult, but you don’t quite have life figured out and some still treat you like a kid. Well, some of us are well past the age of the characters in this book and still look around for an adult. So, that part is relatable. There were parts where the book did feel clunky. I still enjoyed the book, and it was a nice break from some of my darker reads. Especially going into the holidays. I would classify this as new adult romance.

Brave and moving
Format: Kindle
What a perfect Christmas story! I finished it a few days ago and I'm still thinking about the characters, how well-done the story was, and how the author managed to make me feel like I was right there in Illinois with Murphy as we followed her holiday adventures. Murphy just wants to pass the accounting class she's struggling in so that she can join her best friend, Kat, at the college they've always dreamed of attending. Kat is already there, living her best life, while Murphy had to stay behind in their small hometown. Murphy has made the best of a bad situation, becoming a marketing sensation for the coffee shop she works at, but she misses Kat and all the plans they had. When Kat's long-awaited visit home for the holidays takes an unexpected turn--she's brought her boyfriend home with her--Murphy feels even worse than before, until she runs into a former classmate who has a plan that will help them both. Ellie needs Murphy to pretend to be her girlfriend for a family dinner. In return, if Murphy can impress Ellie's mom, who happens to be Kat's accounting professor at community college, maybe Murphy will pass that difficult class after all. The only problem? The girls didn't expect for real feelings for form. And Murphy didn't count on having fights with Kat. Or for everything to get a whole lot more complicated. I just loved this book. Murphy is someone I think a lot of queer girls will identify with and my heart ached for her at more than one point. Meanwhile, Ellie is a likeable enough love interest with a story of her own. I felt the very real chemistry between them and the pining, too. It was clear right from the start that there could be something there, if only they were both brave enough to take the chance right in front of them. At its core a story about growing up, navigating the dynamics of a changing friendship, and accepting unexpected blessings, I'll Get Back to You is a really sweet and moving holiday story.
